Evans William Owen was born in May 1890 in Adelaide, South Australia.  William was born to Mary Ann Evans and Thomas William Evans of Torrensville, Adelaide South Australia. 

William was 5 foot 4 tall and he weighed 128lb he had dark skin, brown eyes and dark hair.

William joined the army in 1914 in Adelaide South Australia. William was 25 years and 8 months old when he joined. Before joining the army William was a Fireman. William's service in the army was from 1914-1918.

On Novemember 1915 William embarked from Melbourne for the war he was the Driver in the 6th Field Artillery Brigade HMT Botanist Melbourne. Then once again November 1918 he was a driver. He served in England and France.

Over the years of his service William had quite a few times he had to spend in hospital in England and France where he was recovering from an illness. In 1916 he was addmitted for a fractured finger on his right hand. Then a few years later he was admitted again with a severe fractured clavicle which is in the chest and shoulder area.

William after his service returned to Adelaide South Australia and was eventually married on the 31st January 1920 to Kathleen Mary Hawk. They then had two children one Girl and then a Boy.

On the 8th Febuary 1971 at the age of 79 William passed away in Adelaide. His grave can be found at The Centennial Park Cemetery Adelaide South Austraila.
