Place of birth is uncertain with a couple of places being written including at sea and London

Son of Henry White Vicary and E. Vicary. Brother of Alfred Henry Vicary of Narrandera, NSW

Husband of Mary ELizabeth Vicary of 9 Bowen Street, Riccarton, NZ. Henry and Mary were married during 1904 in Upper Riccarton, NZ

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Previous occupations were Sailor, Carpenter and general labourer

He is apparently commemorated in Narrandera Cemetery, New South Wales. 

He is commemorated on the family grave in  Holy Trinity Churchyard, Ilfracombe, North Devon District, Devon, England.

Henry Walter Vicary and William Dallin Vicary were half brothers. Their father Henry White Vicary was born in Pagham, Sussex on 7th August 1840 and died 30th March 1901 in Ilfracombe. He was married to Eliza Jane Burgess. Their children (all sons) were Arthur Henry born 18th March 1869 in Greenwich, and he died in Narrandera, New South Wales, 17th September 1956. Walter John, born in Greenwich 5th April 1870, death unknown, then Henry Walter born in Greenwich 6th March 1872, Herbert Arthur, born Greenwich 19th August 1873, and he died in Melbourne 17th April 1925. John George Vicary was born 28th May 1876 in Lewisham, and he died at Strand, Cape Province, South Africa 4th December 1951. Another son Percival  was born and died in Lewisham in 1877.There may have been another son Frederick born around 1871.

Eliza Jane Burgess died 30th June 1880 in Brockley, then in Kent.

Henry White Vicary then married Jane Dallin and had 2 sons William Dallin Vicary born 29th May 1887 and Horace Leslie Vicary born in 1889 also in Ilfracombe.

William Dallin Vicary became a Lieutenant  in the 6th Bn. Devonshire Regiment-he was killed in action, aged 29 on 08/03/1916. [BASRA MEMORIAL Panel 11.]
