The Acting Mayor, Ald. Fred Johnson, last night received a telegram from the Defence Department advising him that Private William James Bragg of the 9th Battalion, has been reported, missing since July 23rd. Private Bragg is the eldest eon of Mr J. M. Bragg", of Alabama Hill, the well known engine-driver.

William was killed in action during the capture of Pozieres village. His nineteen year old brother died of wounds inflicted at Pozieres, 3 weeks later. 4132 Private John Robert Bragg 47th Battalion AIF, DOW 19 August 1916.
