David James Mudie was a 28 year old carpenter when he enlisted in June 1915.
He was taken on strength in November 1915.
David was wounded in action in France on 30 August 1916 but was returned to his unit on 4 October. Whilst recovering in Etaples he had gone AWOL resulting in the loss of 10 days pay.
He was reported missing in action on 11 April 1917 during the battle at Bullecourt. In August he was notified as being a prisoner of war at Soltan, Hannover and that he had been wounded before capture.
David was repatriated to England in January 1919 and returned to Australia in April for discharge in August.
He lived until 1965, dying at aged 77.
