Gerald Cecil TEMPLE was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1899  as Francis Stuart TEMPLE - he stated in his enlistment papers that he was born in Castlemaine and was 21 when he was actually underage at the time

His parents were Alfred Douglas TEMPLE & Rebecca Agnes PROPERJOHN

He enlisted in Fremantle, Western Australia on 8th March, 1916 and embarked with the 10th Light Horse Regiment, 18th reinforcements on the RMS Morea on 6th June, 1916

He returned to Australia on the ship HT Delta, embarking for Australia on 2nd August, 1919 and was discharged from the Army on 10th October, 1919

Gerald married Rita Marie Josine SABELBERG in Perth, WA in 1921 and had two children, Kingsley & Verna

Gerald died on 27th December, 1949 in Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia aged 51 years & was cremated at Karrakatta Cemetery

His death notices in the newspaper list him under Gerald Cecil and also under his real name of Francis Stuart TEMPLE (nickname Jerry) - they were submitted by his birth family, no doubt to set the record straight on who he really was
