Lifetime in Railways
Port Augusta has lost another popular townsman in Mr George Daniel Doran (61), who died in the oral hospital. A soldier of the last war, he ws at one time a champion swimmer and footballer, A war injury having prevented his taking part in those sports in later years, he threw all his entergy into fostering these among the young men. He was secretary of the local sub-branch of the R.S.L. and was vice-commodore of the yacht club. Most of his time since his discharge in 1919 had been spent in Port Augusta. A widow and two children survive.
