Walton's parents were Albert Samuel Thorpe and Martha Jane Pascall. In 1913 Walton was living with his Mother and Father and siblings working on a farm at Mt Pleasant. He enlisted 22 August 1916, Sydney New South Wales. He met and married Dorothy Beatrice Harding in Derby England on 20 August 1919 and brought her back to Australia. Dorothy passed away at Dayboro in 1921. In 1925 Walton's Christian name was changed to Walter and he and his new wife Agnes Thorpe was living at Mt Pleasant with his parents. His occupation was a cabinet maker.
