Sergeant Clifton was 23 and the son of Charles and Susan Clifton; husband of Margaret Ann Clifton, of "Canberra," Moore St., Campsie, New South Wales. 

He is honoured on the war memorial in the Church of St Mary the Virgin at East Bergholt, a village in the Babergh District of Suffolk, England, just north of the Essex border.
