LATE MR. L. R. BAYARD
Mr. Leslie Robert Bayard, a director of Bayards Pty. Ltd., who passed away at the week-end, was born at Roma 47 years ago. He went to school at Roma and afterwards to the Junction Park State
school, when his father, the late Mr. G. A. Bayard, brought his business from Roma and established it at Melbourne Street, South Brisbane. Mr. Leslie Bayard joined the business upon leaving school and was associated with it actively up till about a year ago, when failing health overtook him, excepting for four years spent with the First Field Ambulance in the last war.
After the death of Mr. Bayard, Sen., the four brothers carried on the business, which they successfully transferred to Queen Street. In that transfer and subsequent consolidation work the late Mr. L. R.  Bayard played an important part.
He took a keen Interest in the welfare of the returned men of the A.I.F. and was particularly active in the Yeronga sub-branch of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A. He found recreation in motoring, golf and gardening.
Mrs. Bayard, who was Miss Margaret O'Connor, survives her husband, and there is a son, Jack Owen Bayard. There also are three brothers, Harry G., R.A., and N. E.
