KOHEN - In loving memory of our dear brother Pt C W Kohen, killed in Peronne, September 1 1918. Inserted by his loving brother and sister-in-law, A and A Kohen, and Will.

Charles William Kohen, the son of Charles Kohen and Jane Kohen nee Alexander, enlisted at Sydney in 1916 (Service No 5206) in the 55th Battalion under the name of "Charles William Cowan". He was posted to France, and was killed during the attack on Peronne on 1st September 1918, less than 2 weeks after rejoining his unit from England. He was buried near Peronne, and then re-interred in the Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension, Grave III.B.12.
