    Son of Richard and Sarah Lancaster of Dyraaba Street, Casino, NSW; brother of Ernest Edward Lancaster who was killed in action on 17 October 1917 while serving with the 14th Field Artillery Brigade

    He had previously attempted to enlisted but had failed the riding test
