"...19803 Gunner Samuel Joseph Jones, 8th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB). Gnr Jones, a clerk from Fitzroy, Victoria, enlisted on 4 November 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Medic (A7) on 20 May 1916. He served in France in 1917 where he was wounded and sent to England to recover. Here he is wearing 'Hospital Blues', comprising of a white shirt, red tie and blue coat and trousers. A notice describing the conditions recuperating men and their visitors must abide by is nailed to the barrack's wall behind him. Gnr Jones returned to the Western Front where he was again wounded and died on 25 October 1917 age 22. He was buried in the Wimereux Communal Cemetery, France." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
