Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Paturo Pineaha was born in New Zealand during 1890 and was working in the docks or wharfs of Port Kembla when he enlisted. A Maori man, he was killed when the Germans heavily bombarded and raided the 20th Battalion trenches near Armentieres on 5 May 1916.
His brother, 16/246 Private Watarawi Pineaha of the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion, died of wounds 29 September 1916, age 26, less than five months later.
They both gave their next of kin as their brother, Mokihi Pineaha, of Fernhill, Hastings, New Zealand.
