MORETON, Stanley Herbert (1893-1978)
Stanley Herbert Moreton was born on 27 May 1893, the son of John Knight Moreton and Emily Boswell nee Hewitt. He was enrolled at Geelong College in 1907 giving his address as, 'Ballangeich', Drysdale.
During World War I, he enlisted (No 34166) in the AIF on 4 December 1916, embarked on HMAT A11 Ascanius on 11 May 1917, and arrived in England on 14 September 1917, serving through the final campaigns in France in 1918 as a Gunner with the 10th Field Artillery Brigade. He returned to Australia, embarking on 22 August 1919.
His brothers, Frederick Hewitt Moreton, and George Victor Moreton (1891-1959), were also educated at Geelong College.
