Percy Elliot Theel was born on the 4th of March 1894, in Birdwood (formerly Blumberg), Adelaide Hills - South Australia, Australia. His father was Christian Friedrich Ernst Theel, and Annie Blumberg was his mother. Percy has two siblings Norman Clarence Theel and another, name unknown. His wife was Mildred Harrison.

Prior to the war Percy attended Birdwood High School. He then worked as an Instructor at The School of Mines.  On the 21st of December 1917, he enlisted in the Army Medical Corps. Percy was 22 years old and 5 months, he was 5’8 and weighed 67kgs. He had a medium complexion and blue eyes and brown hair. He had a chest measurement of 34 and a half inches and he was a Baptist.

Percy Embarked on 9th November 1917 aboard the HMAT Port Sydney.

On the 23rd of April 1918, Percy fell ill, with pain in his back and a high fever and he was hospitalised. He was diagnosed with influenza two days later. He was promoted to Sergeant on the 15th of February 1919 after the ending of hostilities. On the 11th of October 1919, he was discharged back to Adelaide.

 At the age of 72 on the 21st of April 1966 he, passed away at Hyde Park, South Australia. His cause of death was related to the wounds he sustained in the war. Percy was buried at Mitcham Cemetery, S.A., Australia.
