Francis Clement DE MEUR was born in North Sydney, New South Wales  in 1895.

His parents were Clement Richard DE MEUR & Mary Frances LARKIN who married in Sydney on 27th May, 1886

He enlisted with the 13th Infantry Battalion on 9th September, 1914 & embarked from Melbourne on the HMAT Ulysses on 22nd December, 1914 (SN 1393)

Due to illness he left Suez on 3rd August, 1915 aboard HMAT Port Lincoln to return to Australia

On 11th October 1915 he re-emarked for overseas with the 11th reinforcements of the 5th Infantry Battalion from Melbourne on board the HMAT Nestor on 11th October, 1915

On 4th March, 1916 he rejoined his original unit, 13th Infantry Battalion and was reassigned his previous regimental number (1393)

Francis was Killed in Action in Pozieres in France on 15th August, 1916 - no known grave
