William Henry Harrison was one of three brothers to enlist in the First AIF. He was the only survivor, being returned to Australia with a heart problem in early 1917. His younger brother Claud Harrison 12th Battalion AIF, was killed at Pozieres during July 1916, aged 23. Another brother, who enlisted the same day, Percy Harrison 26th Battalion AIF, was killed a few months later on the Somme during November 1916, aged 28. They were the sons of Patrick and Sophia Emma Harrison, of Hobart, Tasmania.
William passed away in 1932 after a long illness, only 14 years after the Armistice.
