Son of William John Quarrell and Louisa Marion Quarrell nee Schmidt of Sheriff Street, Stawell, Victoria. Brother of Thomald (Thornald) Aubrey Quarrell who returned to Australia on 30 April 1919 having served with the 57th Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on 3 December 1918 disembarking on 27 January 1919
