2nd Lt. Eric Paul Fulton from Bendigo was shot down in a FE2B and captured by the Germans whilst on a night bombing operation with 100 Squadron RFC. He was repatriated to England in late 1918. He had been serving as a Corporal with the 14th Battalion AIF at Pozieres, when he was recommended for gallantry at Mouquet Farm on the 30th August, 1916, “During an attack on point 27 he led a bombing party through heavy machine gun fire and exposed positions. He bombed several dugouts, and inflicted heavy casualties.” He transferred to the RFC during March 1917. His brother 776 Private John A.J. Fulton, 5th Battalion, had been killed in action during the Landing at Anzac Cove on 25th April, 1915. Their father Alexander Fulton was then secretary of the shire of Huntly in Victoria.
