At the time of enlistment Joseph was living in Bundaberg, QLD. 

Next of kin given as his brother Albert Vieweg of Westdown Road, Leyton, Stratford, England.

Commenced return to Australian on 1 February 1918 aboard HT Balmoral Castle disembarking on 28 March 1918 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
