Biography contributed by Michael Abramson
Eliezer Rabinovitch was the 10th of 12 children born to Caroline Greenbaum and Solomon Rabinovitch. He was born in Sydney, but the family subsequently moved to Adelaide. He received the gymnasium medal from Our Boys Institute in 1916.
He was killed in action at Mont St Quentin, France (see Service History). His effects were left to his sister Cecilia Marks, but a religious medallion was missing. He was posthumously awarded the British War and Victory Medals in 1923.
His family placed the following tribute in the Adelaide Advertiser on 2/09/1918:
RABINOVITCH.—In loving memory of our dear brother Elli killed in action in France, August 31st 1918. He went away with hope of returning Along with his comrades so brave, But with many a hero he's sleeping In a soldier's honored grave
