Son of William Urquhart and Margaret Martha Urquhart of 'Ahtram', Hanover Street, Gore Hill, NSW.
21 March 1915 - enlisted at Liverpool, NSW, with the 20th Battalion and with the rank of Private
26 July 1916 - wounded in action. Wound to the shoulder and evacuated to England aboard HS Aberdonian
Commenced return to Australia on 12 November 1916 aboard HS Wiltshire disembarking on 31 December 1916
Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
4 April 1917 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit due to wounding
During 1917c Nicol married Elsie B. Parkinson in Chatswood, NSW
