Son of William Thomas Viney and Alice Jane Viney nee Huett of Scottsdale, Tasmania. William served with the 1st Remount Unit returning to Australia on 31 May 1916

Brother of Adye Roy Viney who returned to Australia on 25 July 1919 having served with the 4th Machine Gun Comapnay and Vernon Lionel Viney who returned to Australia on 10 May 1919 having served with the 1st Machine Gun Battalion..
