"Sergeant Richard Harold Thompson, 42nd Battalion, of Tamworth, NSW. Pte Thompson enlisted on 25 September 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Borda on 5 June 1916. On 17 January 1917 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant in France. He was wounded in action on 28 May 1918 (gassed) and again on 29 August 1918. Lieutenant Thompson returned to Australia on 11 May 1919 with the 43rd Battalion." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
