March 05 Joined – “B” Company Infantry. Base Depot, Keswick. S.A.
April 16 Transferred to 1st Reinforcements, 7th Infantry Brigade, 27th Infantry Battalion.
May 31 Embarked at Outer Harbor, SA on Troop ship HMAT A2,” GEELONG” for Egypt.
Sept. 29 Because of the already bad sanitary conditions many men contracted disease, Darby was admitted to No.1 Aust. Gen. Hosp. Heliopolis, Egypt, with ‘Varicocele’. Discharged Sept. 31.
Oct. 25 Company - Taken on Strength, to the Gallipoli Peninsular.
Nov. 6 Darby, wounded in action and transferred to 7th Field Ambulance, with gunshot wound to right thigh, then to the 16th Casualty Station.
Nov. 7 Transferred to Hospital Ship “ Nevasa” for Egypt.
Nov. 9 Admitted 19th General Hospital. Alexandria, Egypt, with Gun Shot Wound, Rt thigh.
Nov. 20 2nd Diagnosis –“ Enteric” ( Typhoid Fever) again because of troops previously living in very bad sanitary conditions in the trenches at Gallipoli.
Dec. 04 Transferred to No.3 Aux. Com. Heliopolis –Typhoid Fever
Dec. 11 Transferred to a Convalescent hospital with complications of Typhoid Fever and wounds at Port Said, Egypt. Where troops spent Christmas 1915.
1916
Jan 3 Returned to Australia via Suez, on Hospital Troop ship” Ulyesses”, Typhoid Fever and wounded. Admitted to Keswick Barracks Hospital S.A.
May 20 Honourably Discharged, 4th M.D, 27th BATTALION at Keswick S.A.
Page 1 “Shell wound right thigh received whilst in action.”
Page 2 “Shrapnel wound on right thigh.”
