Died on this date - 2nd September.......Arthur Symonds was born at Parramatta, Sydney, NSW in 1892.
He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 24th January, 1916 as a 24 year old Tailor.
Private Symonds, Service number 5031, arrived in England for extra training on 1st September, 1916 then was sent to France & joined 19th Battalion at the front.
He was sent to Hospital on 29th December, 1916 with Trench feet & a frost bitten hand. He was invalided to England.
Private Arthur Symonds died at 5 am on 2nd September, 1917 at Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire from Acute Rheumatism.
He was buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire where 140 other Australian WW1 soldiers are buried.
