Footballers will be sorry to learn of the death in action of Jim Kiernan, news of which was received in Sale on Thursday. Jimmy played many sterling games on the backlines for the Sale team, says the "Mercury," and has fallen while performing the highest duty a man can under take - the defence of his country.
