Biography
Before the war
Edward William Finn was born in 1879. He was born in Liverpool, Lancashire England. He was married to Whilelamina Finn, he lived in Sussex Street, North Adelaide South Australia with her. He did not have any children before the war. Before he enlisted, he worked as a labourer. His height was 5.8 feet, he weighed 143 lbs (63 kg). Edward had a fresh complexion; green eyes and his hair was starting to turn grey. He had both his arms tattooed. His vision was perfect in both eyes. Edward was a naturally born British and was a Christian.
During the war
Edward enlisted on 10 August 1915 with the ranking of a private. His service number was 3745. Edward embarked on 2 December 1915, in Adelaide. The Ship he was embarked on was the RMS Malwa. On the 31st of December 1916 Edward was taken on strength of the 10th battalion from the 12th reinforcements. On the 27th of January 1917 he was sent to the hospital in France, it did not mention the reason for it. There was information on what he did in between the end of 1916 and when he went to the hospital. Edward was discharged for duty from the hospital on the 6th of March 1917. He re-joined his unit on the first of April 1917. On 6 May 1917 he was briefly missing in action but was soone reunited with his unit. Edward was detached from the 10th battalion for duty at the first Australian base on the 4th August 1917. In September the decision was made to return him to Australia for home service as he wa overage. He was discharged from the AIF on 2 December 1917.
