Pte 2233 John James Edward Bannam was wounded on 9 August 1915 serving in the trenches at Courtney's Post, having only arrived at Gallipoli three days earlier.

He suffered GSW to his head and back and was initially sent to Mudros, before being transferred to 21st General Hospital in Alexandria, Egypt, where he later died of his wounds on 4 September 1915.

Remembered on the Heywood War Memorial.
