Private John Watterson (Service No:2961) enlisted in the AIF on 5 June 1916 and was attached to 5th Pioneer Battalion when he embarked fro Fremantle WA for Devonport on board HMAT A16 Port Melbourne. Private Watterson served in France, and embarked for the RTA from England on 17 June 1918 on board HT Matatua D13. Private Watterson was Discharged on 6 September 1918.

Born in 1871 on the Isle of Man in Scotland to John Snr and Elizabeth Watterson, John was twelve years of age when he ran away from home and worked on sailing ships for seven years before settling in Western Australia.

John was a Miner in Boulder/Kalgoorlie, WA in 1901 when he married Edith Marie Clow Miller (b1879 in Port Adeelaide, South Australia). John and Edith lived in Boulder before settling in Roelands, Harvey, WA where John was a Farmer. John died in 1933 and Edith in 1974.
