OBITUARY
MR. W. G. PENNINGTON
The death occurred suddenly at his residence, South Mt. Cameron, recently of William George Pennington. The late Mr. Pennington was born at Derby and later moved to Zeehan. He returned to the North East to work at South Mount Cameron from where he enlisted in the 1914-18 war. He was attached to the 40th Battalion, A.I.F., and served in France at Armentiers, Bullacourt, Somme, Passchendale,  Messines and other areas. He married  whilst in England and upon his return to Australia after his discharge took up residence at South Mount Cameron where he lived until his death. He was employed by the Endurance Tin Mine Co. as leading barge operator for  many years, and previously worked on the Clifton Tin Mine under the late Mark Ireland. Mr. Pennington was one of the  trustees of the South Mount Cameron Hall. He is survived by his wife (Mrs. Florence Pennington), son George (Launceston), two daughters, Helene (Mrs. R Harper, Launceston), and Gertude (Mrs. Ron Groves, South) Mount Cameron), step-daughter Mildred (Mrs. J. Dawe, Burnie). and step-son Charles Harrison, of Launceston.
FUNERAL
The funeral of the late Mr. W. G. Pennington took place at Carr Villa Cemetery. The service at the funeral chapel and the graveside was conducted by the Rev. R. C. Brown, of St. Pauls Church, Launceston, and the Anzac  Service was read by Mr. Smith of the Launceston R.S.L. There was a large attendance of residents and friends, and many beautiful floral tributes including those from the management, staff and employees of the Endurance Tin Mining Company. Pallbearers were son-in-law, R. Harper, J. Dawe, R. Groves and Mr. A. Yates, and carriers were Messrs. B. Goodyer, R. Taylor, J. Marston and R. Artis. Chief mourners were Mrs. F. Pennington (wife), son George,  daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. Harper, Mr. and Mrs. R. Groves, Mr. and Mrs. J. Dawe, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrison, Launceston, and brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Pennington, Mesdames L. Watt and
D. Butt (sisters).
