Son of Donald McDonald Urquhart and Sarah Jane Urquhart nee Wallis of Urana, NSW. Brother of William John Urquhart who returned to Australia on 6 August 1919 having served with the 8th Field Artillery Brigade.
16 March 1916 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria, with the 2nd Machine Gun Company with the rank of Private.
23 April 1917 - transferred to the 21st Machine Gun Company and re-allotted service number 334A
8 September 1917 - promoted to Lance Corporal
26 October 1917 - wounded in action. Severe wound to the left arm. Embarked HS Warilda for England on 7 November 1917
7 May 1918 - transferred to the 1st Machine Gun Battalion
22 August 1918 - wounded second occasion. Wound to the right forearm
22 July 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Persic disembarking on 29 August 1919
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
18 October 1919 - discharged at the 3rd Military District as medically unfit
