Son of Patrick Shea, Northampton, WA

A GALLIPOLI SURVIVOR

On Monday night the residents of and around Northampton met together in the King's Hall for the purpose of paying tribute to Private Timothy Shea, who has just returned from Gallipoli, after receiving twenty eight wounds and losing an eye.  The meeting was organised by the Road Baord, and took the form of a dance, whilst about thirty non-dancers were catered for on the stage at a Euchre Tornament.  The winners were Miss Murfit, ladies; and Private W Regan gents; whilst the booby prizes strange to say fell to Mr. and Mrs. W. Stokes, a coincidence that seldom happens.  Mr. Alderman conducted the tournament, whilst Mr. Frank Mitchell acted as M.C. on the floor.  During the evening Messrs Mo, Russell and Cunningham delivered addresses in which they paid high tribute to Private Shea's sterling soldier qualities and complimented his parents on the achievement of their son.  Private Shea was born and reard at Northampton and his regimental number being 213 shows that he was one of the first to enlist and help to make for Australia that grand name her sons have won, at the almost impossible landing at Anzac.

A small charge was made at the door, the proceeds to go towards a suitable trophy to be presented to Private Shea, the firs Northamptonite to go through the campaign and return home alive.
