Charles PEARCE (Service Number 2962) was born in London in 1889.
He joined the Tramways as a conductor in 1914. He was relieved from duty in September 1916 to enlist in Sydney. He was sent overseas in November, and, after three months training in England, to France to join his unit in April 1917.
He had two weeks sick in hospital, then rejoined his unit.
He was killed in action on 17th October 1917. He has no known grave but is commemorated with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
He was survived by the wife he married in Sydney a year before enlisting, and by their daughter.
