Son of Robert A. Vallack and Ada Vallack of 'Kalna', Lawrence Street, Manly, NSW. Brother of Robert Aldrick Vallack who returned to Australia on 19 February 1916 having served with the 20th Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 3 July 1919 aboard HT Persic disembarking on 2 September 1919
