MR. Albert V. ("NUGGET") Abbey
One of the best known figures in the early days of the timber industry in the South-West, Mr. Albert Vivian ("Nugget") Abbey passed away at the Busselton Hospital yesterday.
Born at Marbolup, Vasse, deceased who was sixty years of age was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Abbey. When the timber mills at Karridale were at the height of their activity, the late Mr. Abbey was a driver of the Royal Mail coach for the Millars Company between Busselton and that centre. The earlier part of his life was occupied by farming interests, and in later years he had been connected with road and bridge building for the Public Works Department.
The late Mr. Abbey was keenly interested in all forms of sport, and on numerous occasions had represented Busselton in inter-town cricket and football matches. He was extremely popular, and his passing will be regretted by a very large circle of friends.
The funeral will take place at 4-30. o'clock this (Friday) afternoon. When the remains will he interred in the Roman Catholic portion of the Busselton Cemetery. The Rev. Father Langmead will officiate.
