William George Price was born at Dalmorton, New South Wales in 1893 to parents Henry & Rachel Mary Price (nee Fuller). His birth was registered in the district of Glen Innes, New South Wales in 1893.
He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 20th September, 1916 as a 22 year old, single, Labourer (listed as a Horse Driver in information supplied by his mother for the Roll of Honour) from Newtown, Sydney, NSW.
Private William George Price, Service number 4395, embarked from Sydney on SS Port Napier on 17th November, 1916 with the 8th Infantry Brigade, 30th Infantry Battalion, 11th Reinforcements & disembarked at Devonport, England on 29th January, 1917.
Reinforcements were only given basic training in Australia. Training was completed in training units in England. Some of these were located in the Salisbury Plain & surrounding areas in the county of Wiltshire.
On 17th February, 1917 Private Price was admitted sick to Military Hospital, Fovant, Wiltshire from 8th Training Battalion, Hurdcott, Wiltshire.
Private William George Price died at 11.45 a.m. on 2nd March, 1917 at Military Hospital Fovant, Wiltshire from Bronchitis.
He was buried in St. Edith’s Churchyard, Baverstock, Wiltshire, England where 28 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.

William George PRICE, (Service Number 4395) was born at Dalmorton, NSW. He had almost a year’s service as a ‘blacksmiths’ striker’ at the Eveleigh railway workshops when he enlisted in Sydney on 20th September 1916. He was 27-years-old but gave his age to the Army as 22.
He was embarked from Sydney in November 1916 for England, landing in Devonport at the end of January 1917 and proceeding to a training battalion.
On 17th February he was sent sick to a military hospital in Fovant, where he died of bronchitis on 2nd March. He was buried in St Edith’s Churchyard Cemetery, Baverstock.
He had made an allotment of 3/- per day from his military pay for his mother, and after his death his mother and two sisters were granted pensions by the military authorities.
