Name change

Born Henry Martin Ryan. Mother died at age 4 . Father left him and 2 brothers in care of aunts and uncles. Never seen again. At 18 wanted to go to war. Could not because had to be 21 with out parents permission. Changed his name to his eldest brother's name, Edward James, and enlisted. Arrived in Egypt on way to Gallipoli. Developed a gall bladder infection and by the time he was better, his unit had moved on.
Decided to join the military police in Cairo. Met my grandmother, married her, and had 4 children(my mother Ruby was the eldest)
My mother married a British soldier in Egypt during WW2.
We all(including Edward) migrated to Australia in 1947
