Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in re-organizing the company, together with another N.C.O., after all the officers had become casualties, and leading it forward to the final objective. On another occasion, after all the officers were casualties, he established his men in a most forward position, and hung on, under heavy fire, until ordered to withdraw after dark.'
