Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Allan George James was the son of Thomas and Fanny James of Barraba, New South Wales. He enlisted with his foster brother 451 Pte Percy William James, 33rd Battalion who was killed in action 30 March 1918.
The two men were actually cousins but Percy William James had been reared from childhood by his aunt, Fanny James.
Allan was killed in action whilst performing trench repair duty in the front line near Armentieres. The Germans heavily bombarded his trench in retaliation for an Australian Medium Trench Mortar shoot on that day. Three men were killed from the 33rd Battalion and about 15 wounded.
