  • attended Engineers Officers Training School at Roseville for six months prior to his appointment as Second Lieutenant
  • 11 May 1917: Embarked AIF WW1, Second Lieutenant, Commissioned, Embarked on HMAT 'A9' Shropshire from Melbourne on 11th May 1917, disembarking Plymouth, England on 19th July 1917. Stationed at Fovant Camp, Wiltshire.
    5 Oct 1917: Embarked AIF WW1, Second Lieutenant, Commissioned, Proceed to France from Southampton, England disembarking Le Havre.
    11 Oct 1917: Transferred AIF WW1, Second Lieutenant, 2nd Pioneer Battalion
    8 Dec 1917: Promoted AIF WW1, Lieutenant, 2nd Pioneer Battalion
    7 Jun 1918: Embarked AIF WW1, Lieutenant, Commissioned, 2nd Pioneer Battalion, Prior to embarkation from 21st February 1918 was admitted to hospital with Pyrexia and Bronchitis at treated at various medical facilities in France and England. Embarked for return to Australia on HMT Essex from England on 7th June 1918, disembarked Melbourne on 1st August 1918.
    2 Dec 1918: Discharged AIF WW1, Lieutenant, Commissioned, 2nd Pioneer Battalion, Medical discharge - Fibrosis of the lung.

    Son of Henry Charles and Mary Jane (nee BLYTH) MALCOLM  Henry Charles was born in Dundee, Scotland on 22nd December 1853 and died on 27November 1925 at Sandringham, Victoria.  Mary Jane was born in Brunswick, Victoria on 18th October 1858 and died on 13th June 1931at Camberwell, Victoria.  Henry and Mary were married in 1880 in Victoria.

    Married Elinor Humphreys WALLACE in 1913 Elinor was born in Pleasant Creek, Victoria in 1881 and died on 7th May 1963 at Camberwell, Victoria
