Son of Richard John Jupp Ockenden and Mary Elizabeth Ockenden nee Lampard of Burra, SA. 

Next of kin given as his brother Arthur Gordon Ockenden of Southark SA.

Brother of Oliver Henry (Twist) Ockenden who returned to Australia on 10 May 1918 having served with the 50th Battalion; Arthur Gordon Ockenden who returned to Australia on 11 October 1918 having served with the 7th Field Ambulance; Charles Levi Ockenden who returned to Australia on 8 September 1919 having served with the Australian Flying Corps; Harold Ockenden who was killed in action on 7 October 1917 and has no known grave, his name appears on Menin Gate, Ypres, Panel 23; Stanley Leslie Ockenden who returned to Australia on 17 July 1919 having served with the 2nd Tunnelling Company
