Son of Thomas Urquhart and Agnes Urquhart nee Elliott of Norwood Road, Camberwell, Victoria. Brother of George Robert Urquhart who was killed in action on 26 September 1917 while serving with the 5th Field Company Engineers and has no known grave. His name appears on Panel 7 of the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.
17 July 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria with the 14th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
18 March 1916 - promoted to Lance Corporal
1 May1916 - promoted to Corporal
25 November 1916 - transferred the 15th Field Company Engineers with the rank of Sapper
17 May 1917 - transferred to the 5th Division Engineers
30 November 1917 - transferred to the 15th Field Company Engineers
3 February 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Derbyshire disembarking on 22 April 1919
