"THE LATE CORPORAL J. THOMAS.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, 210, Gilles-street, have been informed that their son (Corporal Jack Thomas) was killed in action in France on November 14. He enlisted in November, 1915, and left for the front in May, 1916. He served his apprenticeship with Mr. A. Martin, of Hanson-street, and was employed by him for 12 years. He was well liked by all. He was 26 years of age, and was a widower with one child. Two of his brothers are at the front." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 09 Dec 1916 (nla.gov.au)
