Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Allan Cobbett was working as a miner at Cornwall, Tasmania when he enlisted in 1916. The Cornwall Colliery opened in 1886, and continues to supply coal to Tasmanian industries today. Only 20 years of age, he was just five foot two inches in height (157 cm) and weighed 53 kilograms.
He fought unscathed from late 1916, until he lost his life during the Battle of Hamel on 4 July 1918.
He was the only son of Daniel and Elizabeth Cobbett, of Cornwall, Tasmania. He also had a twin sister, Stella, who passed away in 1983.
