Brother of James O'Donnell who returned to Australia on 1 February 1919 having served with the 15th Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 25 September 1919 aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on 12 November 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
