Biography

"...2522 Private (Pte) (later Trooper (Tpr)) Frederick White, 17th Battalion (later Anzac Provost Corps), of Wingham, NSW. A station hand in the Marlee district of NSW before enlisting on 2 May 1915, Tpr White embarked from Sydney on HMAT Themistocles with the 5th Reinforcements on 5 October 1915. On 3 April 1916 he was taken on strength of the newly formed Anzac Provost Corps in Egypt. He was attached to the 2nd Anzac Headquarters in France on 3 July 1916 as a Trooper. He was wounded in action on 20 June 1917 and received treatment in France. On 20 May 1918, he was severely wounded in the head and leg when a German shell landed in a farmyard near Daours. He died of his wounds on 21 May 1918 at the 47th Casualty Clearing Station. His brother, 1627 Pte Russell White, served in the 30th Battalion, and was also killed in action, on 20 July 1916 at Fromelles." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
