Mr Angell jouined the RSL in 1919 and from 1924 to 1933 was a member of the committee and assiatant secretary of the Brisband sub branch.  In 1933 he moved to Toowong where he joined that sub branch.  In 1933 he was selected from a strong field of applicates for the Assistant Styae Secretary, this folled by the appointment to State Secretary.  he was awarded a Life Membership with a Gold Badge in 1949.   He was hounor with an OBE in 1956.  he resigned from the position on December 31 1966.
