Military Cross, Chaplain the Reverend William Keith DOUGLAS 'For gallantry and conspicuous devotion to duty. At BOURSIES on 8th and 9th April 1917 he remained for two nights at the Regimental Aid Post assisting the R.M.O., and on the 10th inst when the enemy had been driven back, went into the open, close behind the firing line, officiating at the burial of the dead, exposed to shell fire and heavy fire from snipers. The Rev. W. K. Douglas, MC., of Yass and formerly of Wagga. cousin of Canon Douglas Blanche, died last week in Sydney, He had been ill for many years as the result of wounds received in the Great War. As a chaplain he sailed from Tasmania, returning later as rector of Deloraine. He and Canon Sherris met in France. Camp officials, knew Chaplain Douglas as the ''Inspector,' because he frequently harried them Into providing better conditions for the rank and file.
