Henry was born 24.6.1881 in Roma to Johanna and Mary Jane (Young).

Served from 18.5.1900 to 5.8.1901 in South Africa.

Enlisted 6.1.1915 at Enoggera. No:230

Promotions: 15.4.1915 - Corporal, 1.5.1915 - Sergeant

11.3.1917 - Temporary Sergeant Major

Embarked from Brisbane on 2.6.1915 aboard Borda bound for Egypt on arrival he was transferred to the 5th LHR and sent straight to Gallipoli. On 11.11.1915 he was wounded to the right knee and embarked on the hospital ship Delta

He rejoined the 5th LHR on 12.1.1916 in Maadi, Egypt, but due recurring knee problems he was transferred to 3 LHR training.

Returned to Australia on 15.4.1919 and married Ellen Gertrude Burgess on 4.6.1928 in St Pauls Church Proserpine.

They resided in Banana Pocket, Main Street, Robert Street, Chapman Street and Cannonvale. Harry passed away on 9.10.1960. OP11 grave 1281.

Henry Roy Herth (also known as Harry Roy Herth) was born 24 Jun 1881 at Roma, Queensland, a son to John Adam Herth and Mary Jane Herth (nee Young). He married Ellen Gertrude McBride on 4 Jun 1928 in Queensland.

He served in both the South African (Boer) War and WW1. First service was as a Private S.N. 152 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, Boer War. Second service was as a Sergeant S.N. 230 in the 11th Light Horse regiment, AIF, WW1.
